Failing to create a fix for their own mistake, they were going to use you. ‘Your sacrifice would save the world,’ they said. But the problem was, you were my world, and your love empowered me. I got a lot of blood on my hands, but I did what was right.
What do you mean? Of course I killed all of them. There was no way I was going to leave even a single one behind. One alone is enough to seek out revenge, or to plan to accomplish their original goal. I mean, look what I’ve done? I was just one determined, pissed off person, and I just killed over sixty people on my own to save you. When there’s enough fueling that one person, they can be capable of anything.
Yes it was worth it. I would do it again.
Yes, at the expense of many. I don’t care how many.
My love, I don’t think you understand. Let me clarify something: I don’t give two fucks about the rest of the world. I don’t care about saving humanity. I couldn’t care less about their struggle to find a cure. What I do care about is their attempt to take your life because you were lucky enough to be immune, then study you like a damned lab rat, and then maybe come up with a cure with what they find. Maybe. And if they can’t — which, let’s be honest here, we know just how stupid humanity has become, so they most likely wouldn’t — you would lose your life for nothing. I would lose you, the one thing I care about and cherish in life. I would lose you, my whole world, for a chance that the infestation of humanity might survive.
No, I have no regrets.
How I did it? Are you sure you want the details of this?
Well, once I found out their plans weren’t a simple drawing of blood or something rational, I knew I had to act fast, but I needed to have some kind of plan. There were a lot of them and only one of me and, I knew as soon as I made my plans known, everyone in there would have rained down on me like a smacked hive of wasps. I did it all as quickly and quietly as I could at first, but toward the end, more than a few of the dead bodies had been discovered. There was no need to hide what I was doing anymore, my presence was known. I went kind of crazy.
Desperate situations create desperate actions. What can I say? What started as quiet assassinations turned into falling cabinets and broken glass.
Oh, no, you definitely heard gunshots. In my defense, they started using guns first. I had to keep things quiet so until they started with that shit I was just using my knives.
Nah they didn’t have the pleasure of shooting me. Those idiots had the aim of storm troopers.
Ahh, yes, that head bitch in charge. He’s very, very dead. If there is anyone to blame here for everything that’s transpired, it’s him. I’ll spare you the details of that, but I will tell you that it was slow and agonizing. His little inner circle wasn’t any luckier, either.
I know you thought he was our friend. I thought the same, too, until I found out about the plans. It wasn’t made any better when I finally found you and you were about to die at his hand.
…
Sorry. My blood started to boil again there for a second. What did you say, love?
That’s the problem with people, you don’t know what they’re capable of until they’re desperate for something. That one was desperate for power, and saving his own skin.
You’re right, it’s a shame.
Now? Well… I know we need to find somewhere new, and safe. It might take a while, but I think we’ll be better off. Wherever we go, I don’t think our guards are ever going to drop again, or at the very least not for a long time. We’re going to keep surviving all of this together, of that much I can be sure.
